Welcome to the website of the Research Group on Human Capital of UQAM\u2019s School of Management (ESG UQAM).<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The main objective of the Research Group on Human Capital<\/strong> (Groupe de recherche sur le capital humain<\/em>) is to contribute to the economics research on all aspects of human capital<\/strong>, using mainly a microeconometric approach based on survey microdata representative of the population or on administrative data. The Group\u2019s research themes include notably education, labor and well-being, and concern above all children, youth and families<\/strong>. One of the priorities of the Research Group on Human Capital is to study the effects of public policies on human capital and its development broadly speaking, as well as on inequalities.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n This reception will celebrate Pierre Lefebvre<\/strong>‘s recognition as Professor Emeritus, following his tenure as a professor at UQAM from 1976 to 2014 and his continued affiliation as an adjunct professor since 2014. It will also mark the retirement of Philip Merrigan<\/strong>, who served as a professor at UQAM from 1991 to 2026.\n <\/p>\n\n

\n Everyone is welcome, including current and former colleagues, former students, family members, and friends.\n <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

\n Anne-Charlotte Latour Defends Her PhD Dissertation\n <\/h3>\n\n

\n Anne-Charlotte Latour will defend her PhD dissertation entitled\n \u201cEconomic Mobility and the Determinants of Health, Well-Being, and Development During Childhood in Canada\u201d<\/a>,\n supervised by Catherine Haeck and co-supervised by Marie Connolly.\n She previously completed a\n master’s thesis examining the relationship between low birth weight and in vitro fertilization<\/a>\n in 2018. The GRCH wishes her a successful dissertation defence!\n <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

June 2026 – The GRCH is very pleased to welcome two new faculty members: Sam Gyetvay, a professor at UQAM, and Pierre-Loup Beauregard, a professor at the University of Montreal. Both are graduates of the University of British Columbia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sam\u2019s research focuses primarily on issues related to immigration. Much of his work draws on administrative data from Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pierre-Loup\u2019s research focuses on issues related to income inequality and the effects of public policies on poverty, particularly public housing and homelessness.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
